A 78 year old woman was injured in a fatal accident in Lake Forest on Christmas Day, as her family followed in the car behind her. The accident occurred around 7:15 PM on El Toro at Glenmeadows Drive. The woman’s car was involved with another car in an accident that is still under investigation. The damage to her driver’s side door was so extensive she was pinned in the car, and had to be extricated by firefighters at the scene. She was removed to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center, where she later passed away.
The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
If the other vehicle is determined to have caused the accident or played a significant role, the family of the woman would have a wrongful death claim under California law. Our thoughts go out to the family of the Mission Viejo woman, as they grieve her loss and the impact of the accident upon their holiday celebrations. After more than 40 years of experience, I understand the grief and challenges they carry and the most important work I can do is to help lift some of that burden from their shoulders, so that they can focus on supporting one another.
