Orange County Freeways to Avoid because of Traffic

Unfortunately for residents, Orange County Freeways have been known to have some of the worst traffic jams in the entire country. These freeways can snarl drivers in traffic congestion that can add hours to commute time, and place drivers at a higher risk for accidents due to the constant start and stop traffic. These types of accidents often result in serious injury as vehicles traveling differing rates of speed come into contact.  Among the worst rated locations in Orange County include the 405 North freeway at the Brookhurst Street exit. This stretch of freeway on the 405 North is almost always congested and backlogged during all commuter times both in the morning and evening. Even though there are five lanes in both the northbound and southbound direction, the traffic is still typically delayed for hours during peak hours.

Another trouble area to avoid in Orange County is the 405 South at Warner Avenue. This stretch of freeway is also very congested during rush hour time for commuters. Due to the freeway exits and the commuters traveling south to their destinations, there is a morning bottleneck that lasts on average for two hours daily according to Caltrans data collected on this stretch of highway.

The third worst rated in Orange County is the 91 east freeway near the Green River Road exit between the Orange County and Riverside County border. Unfortunately, this freeway is the only path for daily commuters to travel from Orange County to Riverside County. Accordingly, there is always a bottleneck between the roads.
