Many sources including the Huffington Post have noted recently the number of celebrities who are opening up about having a Sexually Transmitted Disease or STD. The Centers for Disease Control or CDC reports that more than 1 in 6 US citizens between the ages of 14 and 49 carries Herpes.
The CDC notes that HPV has become much more common, and the strains that present genital warts and more serious health risks (such as cancer). The hope of HPV is the widespread availability of vaccines that help to protect you from vulnerabilities to more severe strands of the virus.
HIV, also commonly referred to as AIDS continues to persist here in the US, although many patients, including celebrities such as Magic Johnson, are able to cope with the disease and live full lives. However, celebrities are prone to higher risk activities such as sharing multiple partners and drug abuse, and the risk for most people of contracting an STD from a celebrity may actually be higher than other statistical groups.
The net lesson here is this: You can receive an STD from celebrities, professional athletes, and other people of power and wealth that you might highly respect and admire. Here in California it is illegal, however, for anyone to knowingly risk infecting you with an STD by having intimate contact without warning you in advance that they have Herpes, HPV, HIV or any other STD.
If you beleive you have received an STD from a celebrity, athlete or other wealthy or powerful person I invite you to contact my office for a free and confidential consultation at (949)305-1400.
