Five individuals were injured as a result of a car accident that occurred in Fullerton when a driver was speeding and proceeded through a light that was red. The accident occurred near the intersection of Euclid Street and Malvern Avenue. The driver of an Acura sports car ran a red light and crashed into a Dodge Caravan. Three of the people that were injured were in serious condition but stable condition.
In the case of an accident such as the one above, many people are not aware that if they are a passenger to the car at fault, they may be compensated for their injuries as a result of the negligence of their own driver. Many people assume that only the driver and passenger of the not-at-fault vehicle may receive compensation. This is incorrect.
If you are the passenger of a vehicle, and your driver negligently collides with another vehicle, you may seek compensation for your damages and injuries from your own driver if they are insured. The reasoning behind this is that as the passenger of a vehicle, you are not in control of the car, and cannot be a negligent party as an innocent victim. Accordingly, if your driver causes an accident negligently, you can receive compensation.
