A fatal accident on Ortega Highway yesterday claimed the life of one woman and sent a Winchester man to the hospital with serious injuries. The accident occurred at approximately 5:30 am near the Flats Campground, approximately 10 miles from Mission Viejo. CHP officers at the scene described the details of this fatal accident which is still under investigation. Evidently, the driver of a 2016 BMW crossed the center line striking an oncoming 2015 Chevrolet pickup truck head-on. The driver of the BMW has unfortunately lost her life, while the Winchester man driving the pickup has been hospitalized with traumatic injuries. Alcohol and drugs have evidently been ruled out as a factor in this fatal accident.
