Officers arrived at the scene of an I-5 accident in Santa Ana early Wednesday morning. The driver of a black BMW sedan had become involved in an accident with another vehicle. A passenger in the BMW complained of pain and may have been injured in the accident. When police spoke with the driver of the BMW he provided information that allegedly suggested the driver of the other vehicle was none other than Dennis Rodman, a former professional basketball player who reportedly lives in Newport Beach. The California Highway Patrol have since named Mr. Rodman as “person of interest” in the hit-and-run accident on I-5.
Several news agencies have reported that the CHP have made contact with Mr. Rodman’s advisers regarding the I-5 accident in Santa Ana and no confirming reports have placed Mr. Rodman in the driver’s seat of the vehicle that left the scene. A representative of Mr. Rodman told TMZ “Dennis will certainly cooperate with authorities and allow them to inspect his vehicle for damages as well if these accusations are accurate.” If the reports are not accurate who would pay for the injuries of the BMW passenger in a hit and run? Many Californians are surprised to learn that your own automobile insurance usually provides “Uninsured / Under-Insured Motorist coverage, also known as UM/UIM. UM/UIM will pay for injuries received in hit and run accidents, even if you are a pedestrian or riding a skateboard or bicycle. This is why it is so important to maximize the amounts of your UM/UIM coverage on your own automobile insurance. It is some of the least expensive insurance you can purchase, and is extremely valuable in hit and run accidents.
